Magnolia
Parkway Chamber Unveils Plans for 2003
Chamber of Commerce Update
The Magnolia Parkway Chamber of Commerce held its last mixer of the
year at Lake Windcrest Golf Club on December 12th, celebrating a holiday
theme and serving an array of food, beer and wine. The Chamber collected
new toys, provided by members and attendees, to benefit needy children
through a program sponsored by the Society of Samaritans (SOS).
Looking
Forward
The Chamber has major plans for membership expansion, promotion
and fundraising during 2003, aimed at furthering its goals of enhancing
the business climate and quality of life along the FM 1488 corridor
between Magnolia and Interstate 45.
A detailed map of the area surrounding
this Magnolia Parkway corridor is going to be produced in the spring.
The Chamber has been working with Key Map to create an accurate, up-to-date
area map, something which has not existed to date due to the rapid expansion
in the area.
The two-sided map will feature a detailed-side
covering The Woodlands, the south part of Conroe, Magnolia, and the
north part of Tomball. The index for this area will appear on the reverse
side, along with a regional map of southeast Texas and information about
the area. The Chamber will produce approximately 25,000 maps, and will
make advertising space available, with members receiving a substantial
discount. The maps will be distributed by Chamber members, and will
also be offered for sale in various convenience stores.
Super
Skeet Shoot
To raise funds for the economic and business development projects,
the Chamber will host a two-day Skeet Shoot at Creekwood Skeet Club
in Conroe this coming June. There will be trophies and prizes for the
first six places in each class, with classes to be determined by the
first days' scores. Shooters will compete individually, as a two-man
team, or both. After the first day's shoot, attendees will retire to
the Creekwood Restaurant for a social hour with hors d'oeuvres, an open
bar, and a Calcutta Auction. There will also be a Silent Auction, a
Live Auction, and a Gin Rummy Tournament for those who don't shoot.
After the second day's shoot, the Chamber
will host a gourmet steak dinner with all the trimmings and open bar.
At that time awards for the Shoot will be presented. The Chamber is
seeking volunteers to help organize the project (interested members
can call Barney Barnwell at 281-252-6700).
Other
Activities
The Magnolia Parkway Chamber of Commerce will begin producing a
newsletter early in 2003, and is seeking articles on local business
topics, as well as advertising sponsors.
The Chamber has produced 100 embroidered
golf shirts, sponsored by Woodforest National Bank and Mike Seder of
ReMax, The Woodlands. The shirts have the Magnolia Parkway Chamber of
Commerce logo over the left breast, and are available from the Chamber.

at 832-934-2300.
